THE GUIDE · NO. 08
Chin Hairs, Thin Hair & Other Plot Twists.
A calm guide to hair after 45
The hair on your head is getting thinner. The hair on your chin is thriving. Nobody consulted you.
Shifting hormone levels during the menopause transition can change your hair in both directions. Here's how to handle it calmly.
The chin situation
- Good light, good tweezers. A magnifying mirror near a window is your best friend.
- Other options. Threading, waxing or longer-term hair removal treatments are all on the table.
- Mention it if it's sudden or a lot. A quick conversation with your doctor can rule out other causes.
The thinning situation
- Be gentle. Use a wide-tooth comb, go easy on tight hairstyles, and turn the heat tools down.
- Feed your hair. A balanced diet with enough protein supports healthy hair.
- Get it checked. If shedding is sudden, patchy or worrying, see your doctor or a dermatologist. They can check things like thyroid and iron levels.
And remember
Everyone has a plot twist. Yours is just on your chin.
Pluck on, deia
